About Me

Hi my name is Nicholas Schady, working professionally in Construction & Facilities Management with over a decade of experience working for large contractors on signature projects across Toronto, Dubai and Cape Town.

My true passion however, is woodworking, carving, sculpture, gardening and architecture which has led me to start ASSEGAI as way to express myself creatively. Waging a guerilla war against the contemporary built environment

My ambition is to create a community of artists and craftsman helping designers and owners to create ornament of architectonic merit across the Greater Toronto Area with the hope that our efforts become recognized as the built heritage of tomorrows generations

WHAT'S IN A NAME

Our name and logo is an homage to my Grandfather, Bryan Roe, whom had a sheep farm called Assegai Bush, in rural Eastern Cape of South Africa. An Assegai is a iron tipped spear used by the Xhosa and Nguni tribes of Southern Africa.

RESPECT FOR CRAFT

I have a deep love and respect for craftmanship and am consistently awestruck by the efforts and talents of those who came before.
